JUST LISTEN: Lord Huron “Wait By The River”

The Deets:

Who: Lord Huron
Song: “Wait By The River”
Appears On: The lead single from Lord Huron’s upcoming third album, Vide Noir, due out April 20 on Whispering Pines/Republic Records.
Current Location: Los Angeles
Info: Singer, songwriter and producer Ben Schneider found inspiration wandering restlessly through his adopted home of LA at night: “My nighttime drives ranged all over the city—across the twinkling grid of the valley, into the creeping shadows of the foothills, through downtown’s neon canyons and way out to the darksome ocean. I started imagining Vide Noir as an epic odyssey through the city, across dimensions, and out into the cosmos. A journey along the spectrum of human experience. A search for meaning amidst the cold indifference of The Universe,” he says.

As a true multi-media artist, Schneider has once again created an adorned world to inhabit within Vide Noir: the album will be accompanied by a wealth of imagery, films and immersive experiences crafted to expand upon its narratives and themes.
Comments: With the release of the official lead single from their upcoming album, “Wait By The River”, it seems the momentum for Lord Huron won’t be slowing down anytime soon. As complex as it is beautifully simplistic, the new single wades along and immediately draws in the listener into the romantic world of the storyteller that’s teetering on jumping over the line of obsessive with lines like: “if we can’t be together, what’s the point of life”. The narrator though realizes this is all extremely emotional, apologizing “I didn’t mean the things I said, I don’t honestly wish you were dead, I’m a fool, I’m just a man, if I only could hold you again”. It’s that thin line that we have probably all been close to at some point, it’s a song of heartbreaking love, and it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Can’t wait to catch Lord Huron at this year’s Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta!
