Info: The Districts are going on tour throughout early December in support of their third album, Popular Manipulations, which came out earlier this year on Fat Possum. It’s a significant change in style, with lead singer Robby Grote stepping away from the throaty vocals of their previous albums into a more dynamic range. The band worked with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, The Mountain Goats), but they still managed to self-record all but 4 of the tracks on the album.
Comments: If you have never had the pleasure to see The Districts live, it’s time to remedy that situation and now is the perfect time to catch these guys live over the next few weeks. When you talk about a band that slays it live, with an infectious energy that carries throughout their shows, The Districts are that band. Now with the release of their third album, the band has taken on a more expansive sound, but still steeped in the rock ‘n’ roll they are known for, that should only add to the experience that is The Districts live. “Violet” is a perfect example of how The Districts have upped their game! Lucky for us folks in Atlanta, they will be in town this coming Friday with The Weeks at Terminal West, a show not to miss!
