New Music Tuesday 6/2/15

This week’s #newmusictuesday is loaded with albums worth your time and money, including plenty that popular radio and many blogs will get behind like Florence & The Machine, Major Lazer, Dawes, & Jamie xx, and for good reason. Sun Kil Moon will make sure to let his presence be known by making headlines by hating on someone or thing, and then be praised for his songwriting (deservedly so). Beyond those albums, there are a bunch of others worth digging into and finding something new to love.

Our top 4 picks this week include:

Algiers: Algiers – The press has been rolling in for the debut from this hometown Atlanta band. Algiers, signed to Mastodon’s label, Matador Records, may just be one of the best debuts in a long time. Bringing religious and political messages, whatever you want to call their genre, this is a record that is challenging and original, yet this soulful noise is something that giving your ears to, you can’t help but love.

Jamie xx: In Colour – The debut album from The xx producer, the hype has been building for a long time for this one.

Daughn Gibson: Carnation – Country, americana, electronic, wait those don’t really make sense together? Daughn Gibson the singer songwriter from the great label Sup Pop has been crafting his sound since his 2012 debut leading up to what some are saying is his best release in Carnation.

Weisshund: Weisshund EP – We recently premiered the first single, “What You Came For“, from this Atlanta rock n’ roll band’s self titled debut EP, now Weisshund has shared these 5 songs of bluesy rock bliss with the world.
