I didn’t know much about Pure X before Monday night. I listened to a few songs from an old album that didn’t really catch my attention. I hadn’t listened to their newest album yet, but the first single from the album “Starlight” caught my attention so I was at least looking forward to checking them out. After seeing them live, especially hearing a lot of their new songs from their just released album ‘Angel’ I can say that I’m a fan. And I believe they made more than a few new fans from the sold out Atlanta crowd there to see Real Estate. These guys were straight crooning all night with some chilled out grooves and some high falsetto. Great opener, and I’m so excited to check out more from their catalog.
I saw Real Estate in NYC at Webster Hall a few years ago. I loved that show, but I was interested to see them again here in the ATL where it wasn’t a “hometown” show. Well Real Estate brought it for the sold out Atlanta crowd. Even Real Estate seemed impressed by the crowd, saying “do you guys feel that wind up here? You are bringing the energy”, calling this possibly the best crowd of the tour so far. For a band that isn’t exactly hype, they have brought it both times I’ve seen them. The crowd was dancing along, screaming out, and singing along with the band. Great show. “Oh-ohhh-oh-oh-oh, it’s real”. Go see these guys live.
