Song of the Day: The Dirty Projectors – “Keep Your Name”

Bitte Orca, Swing Lo Magellan, About to Die

Do any of these titles ring a bell? They all come from the same band, The Dirty Projectors. After originally arriving at the scene in 2002, the experimental Brooklyn band steadily released material until 2012. Unknown Mortal Orchestra filled a little of that void in 2013, providing a superb cover of “Swing Lo Magellan”. The next three years that followed have been long and drawn out, and it was uncertain if and when the next track would come out.

Releasing their first single in over three years, Dirty Projectors seem to have hit the mark once again with ease. To relaunch the experimental group suddenly dropped a black and white video to accompany their new single “Keep Your Name”. The vocal style mainly focuses on David Longstrenth front and center. Similar in nature to Anhoni, Longstrenth seems to perfectly balance the style and set an entirely new mood to The Dirty Projectors.

We’re excited to see what the group has up their sleeves next. There is currently no other news for a full length or tour.
